ABOUT ROSELAWN MUSEUM — Tours of the Victorian manor $4 adults and $2 children, a must see! Very beautiful and interesting.

Feature highlights — A grand Victorian historical museum, Rose Lawn is a crown jewel of Cartersville’s historic district and home of the renowned evangelist Samuel Porter Jones (1847-1906). Sam Jones was one of the most famous American evangelists that ever lived. Compared to the famed evangelist, Billy Graham, Sam humbly began as a Methodist circuit rider, and was soon promoted as evangelist to the North Georgia Orphanage in 1880.

The beautiful Rose Lawn Museum began as a two-story farm cottage built between 1850 and 1960. In 1885 it became the home of Sam and Laura Jones and their six children. In 1895 the Jones family had the original dwelling raised off the ground and built another floor under it. Significant additions were made onto the rear of the house, as well as stained glass, fretwork, and lead lace panels which transformed Rose Lawn into an elegant mansion.

The Rose Lawn grounds cover 3.5 acres, featuring a one-room school house where the Jones children were educated, a brick smokehouse, and an impressive and recently renovated carriage house with stalls for eight horses.

The garden and roses are beautiful and honored as an Historic Garden of Georgia — and featuring 230 heritage roses.
